Game Room Essentials — The Coke Machine

Vintage Coke Machine

I have seen many man caves stocked to the hilt that are missing an essential game room item. Every game room should have a soda machine — or what we call them in the South, Coke machines.

When you are in the middle of trying to set a high score or are just hanging out in your arcade — isn’t it great to be able to have a cold one at an arm’s reach?

Even if you are not a huge beer drinker, the benefits are wondrous. I keep mine stocked with cold beer, soda, and bottled water. This way, every thirst can be met.

There is a soda machine for everyone; you can go large, go small, go for something gorgeous and collectable — or just get a Coke machine that is ugly but gets the job done.

I have an early 60’s model. What I love about it is within 15 minutes drinks are COLD — much colder than anything from my regular refrigerator. It can handle canned drinks, bottled drinks, and standard water bottle sizes just fine. Load it up with glass bottled and REAL SUGAR (no high fructose corn syrup) Mexican Cokes and live the high life.

Keep an eye on eBay and Craigslist for one. They come up often and typically are cheap. Being so heavy and large, I have even seen them go for free.

Mine ran me $100 and has provided me with ice cold drinks for nearly a decade straight now. Remember these are commercial machines and built to stand the test of time.

So bottles up!

PS: If you want something new consider adding a retro refrigerator to the gameroom instead.
